1. How does coach based dynamic consulting differ from traditional consulting? Traditional consulting relies on the expertise of the outside consultant to determine the steps that they believe are the right ones for achieving the organization's goals. Coach based consulting relies on the expertise and experience of those within the organization. Using the tools related to coaching, The Third Zone elicits the knowledge of the ‘team' and uses that to create the desired movement and achievement for the benefit of the organization. We firmly believe that this approach achieves sustainable results backed by an individual and collective ownership. 2. How long does a company need to work with a coach to achieve their goals? This definitely varies depending on the company and the situation. Because The Third Zone employs such a customized approach to providing solutions to our clients, the length of time involved is a case-by-case scenario. However, many of the programs we propose span a time period of anywhere from 2 to 4 months. This will include group or team coaching over a period of 1 to 2 days that is then supported by individual coaching of the group participants. The individual coaching can encompass 2 to 4 months and is devoted to helping that individual determine and do what is necessary for them to be a contributing member of the team effort. During the individual coaching delivery, there may be additional group or team coaching events. 3. What are the costs associated with coaching solutions provided by The Third Zone? The charges vary, as do the coaching solutions we provide from organization to organization. The determining factors include the days of group coaching events that are provided and the length and frequency of the individual coaching involved. Once we have met with your company and determined the needs you have for which you want our coaching solutions, we will provide a customized proposal of services along with the associated charges. 4. How is payment handled? Payment can be made by company or by a Visa or MasterCard credit card. A payment schedule is included on the executed service agreement and is supported by an invoice that is sent prior to each due date. Payment is due immediately upon receipt. Those interested in longer payment terms are advised to use one of the above credit cards. 5. With the company paying for coaching, does it remain confidential between coach and specific client? Coaching is ALWAYS confidential between the client and the coach. Only when treated as such can it possibly work.. It is clearly explained to the company that the coach cannot be viewed as a conduit for information about the associate being coached. The alliance between coach and client is designed and built upon a foundation of mutual trust and openness which precludes the sharing of any information with another person. This holds true whether coaching is being provided to a group/team or on an individual basis. 6. Does effective coaching require "in-person" sessions? The coaching that The Third Zone provides varies in type and form from company to company. Group coaching events are presented in person. However, to reinforce the accomplishments and discoveries of the group effort, we always suggest that all participants receive individual coaching as a follow-up in order to keep the effort alive and have it prove meaningful. Approximately 95 percent of individual coaching sessions are conducted via the telephone. The success of each session is, in part, dependent on both coach and client being in a place that allows them to focus on the communication taking place. This means being someplace that will provide privacy and void of interruptions from other people, ringing phones and email. Although "in-person" sessions provide the advantage of face-to-face communication, as an experienced coach, one is able to 'read' and 'see' the reactions of their client through the discussion being held while on the telephone. 7. What environment is most effective for a successful coaching session? For individual coaching and as indicated above, it must be one that will allow both client and coach to truly focus on the discussion. The ideal atmosphere is one that is conducive to pondering and exploring. To be truly effective it should provide escape from interruptions and distractions. In the case of group coaching events, these must be held at a location that will allow all participants to focus on the activities of our session without interruption. An off-site location is perhaps the most effective in that all are away from normal office interruptions. This assures the maximum benefit to the company and the participants. 8. How often does individual coaching take place? Generally speaking, coaching sessions are weekly. This frequency allows the client time to take actions to which they have committed that move them down the path they have identified and chosen. The number and length of sessions, however, can vary to suit the client's availability and schedule. Flexibility to suit the client and their circumstances is easily incorporated into the working alliance. 9. What client attitude will create the best results in the coaching relationship? Whether the coaching is taking place in a group or individual setting, the client who comes to coaching with a sense of excitement about the process is already down the path to achievement. The oft-heard response is a sigh of relief for the line has been drawn. They see coaching as the method that is going to allow them to achieve the success they really want. They see coaching as the tool that will enable them to feel good about themselves and their ability to meet and exceed expectations. 10. What does the client need to "bring to the table" to get the most out of coaching? Attitude: An attitude of embracing learning - how to do things differently, how to do things better and how to do things in ways that are compatible with their own personal values and goals. Attitude: An attitude of being open and honest with the coach and with their own feelings and capabilities is essential to hitting their stride. Attitude: An attitude that conveys determination to enter this relationship fully ... to do whatever it takes to explore and consider all of the options that good coaching will 'discover'. 11. What can I depend on my coach to provide? Several things. First and foremost, is a commitment to the client to use all of the tools of co-active coaching to enable the team or individual to move from where they are to where they want to go. Our coaches will be fearless and BOLD in guiding the client(s) down various paths of exploration that could lead to answers and action ... ultimately, the sense of fulfillment and accomplishment that is desired. The client can count on their coach to be forthright, honest and to be a most avid champion for their efforts and achievements throughout the entire relationship. 12. What are the key ingredients that make coaching effective? • A strong and trustworthy alliance established between client(s) and coach • A strong desire on the part of the client(s) to 'move' to someplace different...to different ways...to 'being' different • A commitment from the coach to use all of the skills of co-active coaching to help the client achieve their goal of growth and change. 13. What is The Third Zone guarantee? Satisfaction and results that are achieved through: - Agreed upon meaningful and measurable objectives
- Mutual and bold commitments to the process of coaching and the details of the agreement
